Notre Dame Could Be Fighting In Yankee Stadium
May 21, 2009 Posted in Collegiate, Sports

The old Yankee Stadium housed its fair share of college football’s greatest games, and now it appears the new one might be getting its chance to do the same.
Apparently the New York Yankees are open to the idea of playing host to some of college football’s greatest rivalries, and who better to swoop in than one of college football’s winningest programs, Notre Dame. According to The New York Times, Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick has been in contact with Yankee Stadium and would love to be one of the first two college football teams to play in the new Bronx Palace.
Ideally, the Fighting Irish would like to arrange for the 100th anniversary of the Notre Dame vs. Army game to take place in New York in 2013. According to the report, Swarbrick said, “It would be of great historical significance for us if it would be Army. We would love that. Some of the most significant games in the history of college football involve those two schools and Yankee Stadium.”
