Senator Says No To Porn at U. of Maryland
April 9, 2009 Posted in College
Remember when we told you about the screenings of Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge taking place at University of California, Davis, Yale, Tulane and other campuses across the country? It seems that the pornographic blockbuster and future skin flicks for that matter intending to screen their movies at University sanctioned events might as well skip over University of Maryland and other schools in the Old Line State.
The University of Maryland’s planned screening has infuriated one state lawmaker, who tried to pass legislation to withhold school funding for universities that don’t develop policies that note “the serious social and health concerns associated with screening pornographic film.”
Sen. Andrew Harris tried to attach his proposal Wednesday to force the governing boards of the state’s public universities to adopt policies on pornography before the schools receive any capital funds for the next fiscal year.
This is a major 1st amendment debate (and great marketing for Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge) so we will be sure to keep you updated on the situation. For now check out all the information here.
