I think IE8 is the worst browser ever! I upgraded from IE7 to IE8 after a clean Windows XP installation and found out some webpages were incomplete. Openening the same pages in Firefox confirmed exactly what I thought, IE8 wasn't displaying all the content. Not sure if I downgrade to IE7...guess I will discontinue using IE. Shame on you Microsoft, building a browser which isn't backward compatible with websites scripted for older browsers.

I have been using Opera since version 5. I managed to convince several of my friends to use Opera because among other things it had tabs, small footprint, and low memory usage compared to Firefox. I could have more tha 60 open tabs with no problems while Firefox crashed on me for a smaller number of open tabs. Chtome requires more than 50Mb for installation for less functionality.

Yes, I believe Opera can rise further.

I love reading articles like these.

Personally, I use Firefox at home. Your claim of gadgets and buttons filling up the window is not a browser issue, it is a user issue. Add-Ons must be added by the user, and can easily be managed. So blame yourself for filling up your browser window. But I digress...

As much as I use Firefox at home, at work on an enterprise network, it is essential for someone like me to have the control that IE in a domain environment offers; to prevent people like you from doing stupid things on the network that I help administer.

Your article is laughable, written in the severely limited context of home users. It has no validity for anyone serious in enterprise network management. The first commenter, dax, was clearly wrong (no offense to dax) for calling you a geek.

Your article is called "Why Internet Explorer 8 Is The Worst Web Browser in History" but you don't give a single reason why. You just say that you hate it, and people who don't know how to use computers use it because it is the default browser.

From many accounts, IE8 is full of useful features.
Worst browser ever? That's a bold statement to make, especially if you can't back it up with any facts.

How comes, I've got it installed on my PC? Please check your knowledge database.

Safari is also availaible for PC machines.

uhmm... whoever wrote this, please take note of a couple of facts:

1) your IE trashing did not actually include any facts, just rants of extremely disturbing kiddie porn and obese people. that entry just makes you sound like a troll with his own blog.

2) you obviously don't have iTunes. because anyone with windows and iTunes would notice that every two weeks it asks them to install Bonjour, some other program and SURPRISE SUPRISE: Safari! which just makes Mac as annoying as windows, except one step worse because it's being hypocritical about it.

3) you also vastly understated the compatibility problems with opera. it's coding is so much different and it is so rare that people having to deal with things like secure lines, embedded real-time graphics, and the such (encountered by students who's classes have online components, professionals loggging into company servers from outside computers, etc...) can not use opera because of its internet incompatibility.

"I would have never guessed that in 2009, Microsoft would still be attempting to improve one of the worst, most bug-riddled, ass-backwards and incomprehensible web browsers in the history of the Internet."

Really? The same company that is still "attempting to improve one of the worst, most bug-riddled, ass-backwards and incomprehensible" Operating Systems of all time? I never would have imagined it either...
