I really think that it won't do well but mostly b/c people won't understand it. Especially the ending. This isn't supposed to be an action movie. The comic had more talking than action. People will go in thinking it'll be like Iron Man or The Dark Knight, and it's really nothing like those movies. This is more about characters and their back stories than heroes coming together to save the world. The sheer fact that it is different is what I think will hurt it the most. Then again; I was honestly surprised that The Dark Knight did so well, and that people liked the story(and some actually understood it). They weren't just seeing it b/c of Heath Ledger's death.
