The “Take Back NYU” Revolt Has Hit Critical Mass
February 20, 2009 Posted in College

What started as a upbeat student rally demanding budget disclosure, endowment disclosure, and student representation on the Board of Trustees quickly turned sour around 1AM last night according to New York Magazine.

Out of 700 students who originally began the rally a group of only two dozen students remain holed up in NYU’s Kimmel Hall. These students thought the university was about ready to negotiate demands on their list, which include transparency of the school’s budget. Instead administrators pulled their previous deal of amnesty for protesting students off the table, cut Internet access to the building and threatened them with expulsion.
It is unknown how this event is going to turn out but there is a mob scene at NYU right now and the enitre event is being covered by BuzzFeed – check out the stories and see the pics.
