T.I.’s Road to Redemption
February 10, 2009 Posted in Television

Tonight marks the debut of T.I.’s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go, which follows the Grammy award winning rapper as he chips away at 1,000 hours of community service, mentors a group of at-risk teens, promotes his album Paper Trail and prepares to spend the next year of his life behind bars on federal weapons charges.
The story of “Road to Redemption” begins on a fateful night in May of 2006. While leaving a nightclub in Cincinnati a car pulled up next to the van T.I. was riding in and opened fire. His life long friend and manager Philant Johnson was killed in the incident. Ever since, T.I. has lived a life of fear and paranoia saying it was emotionally difficult telling Johnson’s five-year-old daughter her father was dead because he “felt that all those rounds were fired for me.”
In his road to redemption, we see a side of T.I. not normally publicized on TV, on music blogs or in magazines. “Road to Redemption” surprisingly reveals T.I. to be a devoted father of seven, who spends countless hours mentoring troubled teens in his hometown of Atlanta using stories of mistakes from his own life to deter at-risk teens from choosing the gang banging life of the streets.
T.I.’s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go is a fantastic show and it can be seen tonight (Tuesday, February 10th) at 9PM on MTV.
