Paul Simon Named to Berklee College of Music Board
Paul Simon and Christopher Guest have been appointed to the board of trustees of Boston’s Berklee College of Music. The school announced the additions on Thursday. Berklee President Roger Brown said adding Simon and Guest augments the board’s knowledge of education, songwriting, performance and film. Both men have received honorary doctorates from Berklee. Simon, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has two scholarships in his name at the college. [AP]

Coolest news item of the week: University of Alabama booster James M. Fail’s long been a donor to the university, but had not ever been honored with a naming right. According to Alabama athletic director Mal Moore, Mr. Fail “had always been hesitant to use his unique name for a naming right until the right opportunity came along.” Last week, the right opportunity came along.
