No. 1 Alabama (9-0) at No. 16 LSU (6-2)
Nick Saban leads his squad, that’s coming off two crushing victories by an average of 27.5 points, into the bayou this Saturday to take on his LSU successor, Les Miles. In this matchup of national title winning coaches, Bama will face its final speed bump along the way to the SEC title game, but it’s one of those really huge ones that bottom out your Corvette every time. While the Crimson Tide has already proven that they can bring it on the road with two convincing wins over Top 10 teams (at Clemson and at Georgia) this season, LSU prides themselves on playing tough in the swamp and let’s not forget – they are the defending champs. This figures to be an epic battle in Baton Rouge.

No. 2 Texas Tech (9-0) vs. No. 9 Oklahoma State (8-1)
Flying high after a dramatic win over former No. 1 Texas last week, the Red Raiders are riding in the middle of one of the absolute toughest schedules in America. Already in the past two weeks, they’ve played games at Kansas and home against Texas, now they are home against No. 9 Oklahoma State and then at No. 6 Oklahoma next week. Wow! Someone at the top must have it in for these Texas Techies. OK State is trying to prove that its one close loss to Texas was a fluke, as they will try to use this game to leapfrog back into the upper echelon of teams auditioning for a gig in the BCS title game.

No. 3 Penn State (9-0) at Iowa (5-4)
Penn State is coming off a huge bye week that allowed them to regroup after the historic and emotional win over the Buckeyes in Columbus. This week’s game is the first of a final three games that could send Penn State to the title game with a perfect 12-0 record. Only Iowa, Indiana, and No. 18 Michigan State stand in their way from a potential bid to play for it all.

No. 4 Texas (8-1) vs. Baylor (3-6)
After Texas’ recent grueling schedule that saw them catapult to the top of the rankings, now they can finally ease back into things with a virtual bye week at home against Baylor. Man, would I hate to be a Baylor Bear this week. Survive wars against Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and then give up a 1-pt lead with 1 second left in the Texas Tech game?!?! Those Longhorns are angry and will be out for blood as they set to go Bear hunting.

No. 5 Florida (7-1) at Vanderbilt (5-3)
This Gator team is on a mission. After a 1-point loss to inferior Mississippi, Urban Meyer’s crew have been shattering lives along the way, annihilating teams like it’s a hilariously fun game. They destroyed Arkansas 38-7, pummelled then-No. 4 LSU 51-21, then humiliated Kentucky 63-5, and wrapped it up with a 49-10 destruction of then-No. 6 Georgia. Will they continue their assualt on the respectable Commondores of Vandy? Vanderbilt started the season with a 5-0 record and wins over two ranked opponents. But lately, they’ve been mired in a 3-game losing streak, including last week’s lowlight of the year – a 10-7 home loss to Duke.

No. 6 Oklahoma (8-1) at Texas A&M (4-5)
Remember back when Oklahoma was No. 1? No? Neither do we. Oh wait, yea we do. They were the Top Dog until Texas smacked them across the face in their own backyard. But since then, and this is beginning to sound like a major trend of these one-loss teams, the Sooners have shown no mercy – winning their next three by an averge of 23 points per game. Can they two-step their way into College Station and continue their quest for a third straight Big 12 championship?

No. 7 USC (7-1) vs. No. 21 California (6-2)
Finally, USC has to play against a real team. The Trojans made statements early on by trouncing Ohio State and Oregon at home. But have since played high school caliber teams. They have three shutouts in their past four games and now will be put to the test against a test with a powerful dual running attack thats seen Jahvid Best rush for 736 yards while his buddy Shane Vereen has tacked on 555. Can the Trojans continue to destroy the suspect Pac-10 competition? The guys running Vegas would love to have you believe it.

No. 10 Boise State (8-0) vs. Utah State (2-7)
Utah State is flying full steam ahead into Boise on the heels of a solid 30-14 victory over Hawaii, trying desperately to pull off an upset, all while erasing the memory of last year’s mortifying 52-0 defeat at the hands of the Broncos. Once again, Boise State is back at it, surging up the rankings going after another perfect season and its sixth conference title in the past seven years. Can they continue the trend against the lowly Aggies from Utah State?
