Contest Winner To Kick For No. 6 Texas Tech

Several weeks ago, Matt Williams was your average Texas Tech student. Average, until he entered a kicking contest during the Red Raiders’s September 20th game vs UMASS.

Williams can do what most average students can’t, kick a football long and straight. This ability not only scored him a free month rent when he made a 30 yard attempt to win the contest, but also earned him a walk on roster spot on the #6 ranked football team in the county.

Having missed 6 PAT’s (Point After Attempts) and half of their field goal attempts this year, Texas Tech’s kicking situation is dismal to say the least. That is why Coach Mike Leach has cleared Williams to play through the AD and is seriously considering giving him a chance to kick during the Red Raiders game vs No. 18 Kansas this weekend.

I guess sometimes, you just get lucky – as long as you’re good.
