a class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A....
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
Remember, there is a test coming up. The 2012 elections.

If government run itself efficiently, effectively and productively like a business such as this bar, then people could keep more of their own money and do other things with that money, providing for family, start a business, saving &/or investing, charity etc.

This missing element here is that the 10th man actually owns the bar. He has been taking in the profits and making the money off of all transactions since they started going to the bar.

Kinda sneaky, but if they didn't have him, they also would have no bar to drink in.

The essence of the misrepresentation is that wealth and taxation can be analagously represented by such trivial subject matter. To demand free beer from a wealthy person is petty and absurd. To demand safe roads, a decent education, and the right to medical attention is not. In order for this analogy to make sense to a person he/she would have to be 1)so wealthy that taxation at any rate is no more than an annoyance and 2) a real a--hole.

The thing about this analogy is that this 10th guy never really leaves the bar - he sticks around, he keeps listening to the music, he flirts with the girls and even keeps drinking the beer. But when it comes time to pay, he uses some bogus address in the Cayman Islands as an excuse why he doesn't have to pay for all that he's enjoyed at the bar. He's a cheapskate and a deadbeat. It's fair and right to expect this guy to a fair amount for the amount he indulges in at the bar.
