College Football Week 5: Cheerleader Edition

If you are still high from Oregon State’s Jacquizz Rodgers schooling of the USC defense on Thursday, then it is time for the Saturday NCAA breakdown.

Check out College Football Week Three: Cheerleader Edition after the jump!

No. 2 Oklahoma (3-0) vs No. 24 TCU (4-0)

If Oklahoma can close the deal with undefeated TCU, they should become the new No. 1. The Sooners have outscored opponents 164-42 and are second with a 40.7 average margin of victory. The Horned Frogs haven’t trailed this year and rank fifth in the nation with an average margin of victory of 35.3. TCU has won its last two games in Norman, but this one might be a little rough.

No. 3 Georgia (4-0) vs No. 8 Alabama (4-0)

Athens is the scene of this week’s marquee matchup when Georgia hosts Alabama. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive road win at Arizona State while the Tide hammered Arkansas. The spotlight will be on a pair of freshmen receivers: Alabama’s Julio Jones and Georgia’s A.J. Green. Georgia and Alabama have met five times when both were ranked, with the Bulldogs winning all five meetings. Look for Alabama to throw the “upset” of the week against the tiring Bulldogs.

No. 4 Florida (3-0) vs Mississippi (2-2)

It is official, Tim Tebow is not the only stud at Florida. The Gators’ defense has allowed just 19 points in three games, good for No. 2 in the country. Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead started the season strong but has thrown six interceptions without a touchdown in the last two games. Look for Snead to spend more time on his back than Jenna Jameson in her prime. The spread is over 40…ouch.

No. 5 LSU (3-0) vs Mississippi State (1-3)

LSU hopes to avoid a letdown when it hosts Mississippi State after a thrilling victory over Auburn last week. Jarrett Lee will likely be under center for the Tigers after he rallied LSU last week. The Tigers rank 2nd in the SEC in rushing, which could be trouble for the Bulldogs: MSU gave up 438 yards on the ground last week to Georgia Tech. If Lee can get the running game going and work the option with some play-action, the Bulldogs are toast. If they shake him up early, LSU will need to rely on their defense to carry this one. Either way, this probably won’t be your average No. 5-vs-Unranked-game.

No. 7 Texas (3-0) vs Arkansas (2-1)

Arkansas and Texas meet in Austin in a make-up game delayed by Hurricane Ike. The Longhorns have rolled through their early-season schedule, winning each game by at least 29 points. The Razorbacks dropped their first game to Alabama by 35. The Longhorns are 55-21 all-time against the Razorbacks. In short, Texas wants a shot at a Top 5 ranking and Arkansas is pissed off from being spanked by Alabama. Look for this one to be dirty from the start – much pushing, shoving, keeping-it-real and talking about mothers all game long.
