Dirty Thursday: Dillinger Escape Plan

THE BAND: Dillinger Escape Plan
HOMETOWN: New Jersey/East Coast
MEMBERS: Ben Weinman, Greg Puciato, Liam Wilson, Jeff Tuttle

THEIR DEAL: This intense rock band helped pioneer the term, “mathrock”, with their continuously driving and challenging music. They have remained relatively DIY over the last decade and have built their fan base from the ground up with consistent touring and progressively insane songs.

THE DIRT: While this band is incredibly full of talent, they have a hard time keeping members around. In fact, the only original member is Ben Weinman. Long time drummer, Chris Pennie, left the band last year and was replaced by Gil Sharone. While most were accepting of Gil, he too is out of the band now and they’re actively trying to replace him.

DEP did not pioneer "mathrock". They were a few years too late to do that. Also the play metal. Therefore, it would be "mathmetal" or "progessive metal" that they pioneered. Also they haven't been good since about 2003.
