Tuesday’s Album Releases: Taproot, Nelly

I always sorta liked Taproot. I’ve never been able to explain why. Maybe it has been because they’ve always reminded me of a better (way better) version of GodSmack. But at the end of the day, that whole Nu-Metal scene is long past old so Taproot’s new album released today, “Our Long Road Home“, needed to be different.

Luckily, based on what I have heard so far, it is. The melodies are much stronger and radio-friendly than those before, but I somehow think this is a good thing for them. The new music isn’t mind-blowing by any means, but it’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of catchy hooks.

Speaking of catchy hooks, I shamelessly have a fascination for Nelly. I couldn’t be more psyched that he has finally released another album, bandage-less at that. His new album, “Brass Knuckles“, boasts that same mid-western twang he’s known for with predictably catchy hooks. Am I gonna complain? No way. As a sidenote: based on the album’s cover, I think Nelly has been working out A LOT. I predict a Nelly/50 Cent brawl.

Other albums released today:

Death Cab for Cutie – “Live from Las Vegas at the Palms” (EP)
George Clinton – “George Clinton and Some Gangsters of Love
