Open relationships *USUALLY* fail, but not always. Last I saw solid, well-researched numbers (and that was, like, 25ish years ago), "open marriages" had a 90% failure rate. Note that *traditional* marriages are running 50%-60% failure rate, so...

And, despite the opinions of "Marc" -- open relationships are not (should not) be about the whole "shopping around" schtick (his "Pro" #3); not unless both parties know and agree about it upfront. If the "couple" are just f*ckbuddies and agree to "be a couple" for the purposes of having a partner for events where it's wierd not to... sure, that's one thing.

But, look into the phrase "polyamory" if you want the real deal on this. Google, wikipedia, and and various net.communities such as Tribe.

Someone else is piping your girl. I could maybe see this working if you are in a not so serious college type relationship but would never work if you actually cared about the person or your were married to them.

Define long run? I had an open relationship for nigh on 13 years... It was rad!

2 of those involved living with 2 women at the same time- sometimes all in the same bed, sometimes just the two of them alone, sometimes me and one or the other.

One pro left off is the opportunity for group gropes... if you know, you're into that...
