Crazy UFC News: Couture Returns

Craziness! It seems that the lawyer’s from the UFC finally submitted Randy Couture and Mark Cuban in the battle to decide where the now-45-year-old cage veteran will be allowed to fight. People in Las Vegas have been whispering for some time that UFC President Dana White and Randy had begun to renegotiate on more personal (read: no lawyers) terms–and it turns out the rumors are true!

Six-time UFC champion Randy Couture will return to the Octagon this November, ending an 11-month legal battle with the promotion he’s called his home for the last 11 years.

As part of a new three-fight contract with Zuffa LLC, parent company to the UFC, Couture (16-8) will face Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 on Nov. 15 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will be waged over five rounds for Couture’s heavyweight championship title. (Sherdog.com)

Not only is Couture returning to the UFC, but he’s already got a fight scheduled versus recent UFC addition and absolute gorilla Brock Lesnar, who is fresh off delivering a three round beating to Heath Herring just last month. Couture will fight Lesnar at UFC 91 on November 15^th. For the title. Meaning Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira’s belt is…what? Decoration? Apparently. Additionally this has put the skids on the title fight the UFC was hyping that would pit Minotauro against Frank Mir after they finished their season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ which is in production now.

Why did Randy return? Besides missing home? Well, COED has a few guesses. More money, for sure. Dana White also announced the UFC will do ‘everything’ they can to bring current Affliction Heavyweight and absolute robot Fedor Emelianenko to the UFC.

It makes you wonder who was winning the legal battle. And what of recent reports that Affliction has been asking fighters to take paycuts? Could that have had something to do with Randy’s decision?

Who knows. Either way this is great for fans. Randy will return to the cage.
