Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, West Wing, Charlie Wilson’s War) is scripting a movie about the formation of Facebook.
Paramount Pictures was looking to keep the project under wraps, but Sorkin spilled the beans when he leaked the information on, of course, his Facebook page.
The film will focus on the evolution of Facebook from its 2004 creation on the Harvard campus by sophomore Mark Zuckerberg to a juggernaut with more than 60 million members. The company was reportedly valued at $16 billion last year when Microsoft outbid Google to invest $240 million for a 1.6% stake in the company.
Along with the events that created the phenomenon, the film will cover how these unimaginable overnight riches changed the lives of Zuckerberg and his Facebook cohorts. [Variety]
People [here, here] are bashing Sorkin’s idea, but a film focusing on dorm room entrepreneurial spirit (that isn’t about the rise and fall of a drug dealer) might be cool. You know, or about as interesting as a digital vampire bite…

At least Hollywood will insert some bogus sex story/scene. Then they just say “BASED on the true story” and sell it like hot cakes. Look at “21″
