The ancient Culture of China is interesting and wonderful to get to see up close, but the modern government is a joke.

You realize people ‘like’ China because they throw their money to other countries to devalue their currency and have ‘potentiall’ the largest consumer market, yes? They only started ‘liking’ China once China opened a few cities up to be semi-free markets. Why else do you think no one gave a fuck about China until the last 15 years or so?

@the article author: China is hosting the games because all countries are falling overthemselves trying to get their countries businesses in there since it would be the biggest consumer market on earth…if, and it’s a big IF, China ever opened itself up that way.

As it stands now, they cripple their currency intentionally so they can continue getting manufacturing jobs to satisfy a populace that makes about $2k a year. If China let true market forces decide the value of the Yuan it would be on par with the other major currencies on earth.
