Despite the Dems and the allied main stream media’s desperation to see Romney as McCain’s Veep, Mitt is clearly out, with (1) Obama doubling down on the class warfare theme (McCain’s 7 houses) and (2) McCain doubling down with ads showing the hypocrisy of Biden attacking Obama in the primaries — Romney did way more than that contra McCain.

This leaves only Govs Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty. Pro-abortion Ridge and Dem-Lieberman were never real considerations, despite relentless media goading. Pawlenty’s lackluster TV performances, coupled with Palin pizzazz, the primacy of oil drilling and the ticked off women/Hillary voters, does now portend a McCain/Palin checkmate on the Dems. This is so albeit the Dems and liberal media dare not mention Palin’s name, that is, everyone but…..

And if there’s any question as to Palin being uniquely positioned and able to more than nullify Biden in debate, see the excellent discussion at palinforvp.blogspot.com

Team McCain, well done!!!

It's August 23, folks, and Mr. O has picked street fighter Biden as VP. This news story alone mandates anti-conservative Old Man McCain to "reach out" to the base he's flipped off for so long. The best way for him to reach out is to pick Romney, but such a move would not be based on money or Romney's ability to raise it. It would be based on votes--the votes of hundreds of thousands of conservatives who left the GOP after Romney bowed out and thousands more who left, as I did, years before. Romney is the future of the GOP--there IS no one else. Jindal is too young and comes from a corrupt, small state. He'd make a good VP in 8 years. Pawlenty isn't known outside of the Midwest. Rove says Pawlenty would help McCain carry Iowa (which has gone Democrat) and Minnesota. But Pawlenty probably couldn't help McCain carry Michigan, and Romney can. Michigan has 7 more electoral votes than Minnesota, and that could be the margin of difference in this election. Romney gives McCain Michigan and possibly Colorado (which Romney won in the primary). What Romney MIGHT give McCain is Massachusetts, even with Obama picking Biden. Kennedy is not a factor now; otherwise, I'd give Mass. to Obama. Romney won Mass. handily in the primary. Romney also puts Maine into play, something Pawlenty couldn't do. Romney won the Maine primary. In fact, Romney won 11 states in the primary. A lot of folks have forgotten that fact. And he was second to McCain in the popular vote. The biggest concern about Romney seems to be coming from evangelicals who are Suckabee fans. McCain will not be selecting Suckabee! Romney, unlike Suckabee, hasn't been trying to steal the limelight from McCain. Bet on Mitt.

OK, I'll bite.

If you think Romney adds "nothing" to a McCain ticket, you are either very stupid, or an Obama supporter.

Whatever weeknesses you may perceive in him, Romney is far and away the strongest candidate for the VP slot. Palin pales, and Jindhal is just too inexperienceds to be serious contender.

And as for the idiot who thinks this election is a slam-dunk for Obama, check out Rasmussen's web site, which puts the candidates within four or so points of each other (which is pathetic for Obama at this juncture).

CNN Still Can't Bring Itself to Say Palin's Name

Last night on Election Center with Campbell Brown, a bunch of CNN talking heads discussed potential VP's for John McCain. They mentioned about 12 names overall, and also threw in a couple nonsensical wildcards just for one. One person they didn't mention? Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

It's becoming embarrassing to the MSM to watch their avoidance of a VP candidate nearly every serious pundit and analyst considers to be one of the frontrunners, but one of the best choices for McCain. Bill Kristol of the New York Times and The Weekly Standard actually came out a short while ago and flat-out predicted that Palin would be McCain's VP choice. But instead of even mentioning her name, CNN touted Joe Lieberman as the best option for McCain and one of their "experts" even claimed "the right would love it". They must have been talking to the three Obamacons again (oh those ever elusive Obamacons...). This kind of crap reporting is why CNN is getting clobbered by Fox News.

How typical. I agree with previous commentors on this topic. It really appears as if the MSM is quite frightened of Gov. Palin. Let's hope McCain makes the right choice.

If you're a Republican, when in doubt, do the exact opposite of what the mainstream media is telling you to do. works every time.

Here is the thing... What we are debating something that does not matter. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that McCain + any VP candidate can squeeze the presidency away from Obama. As a human being Obama is simply smarter than McCain and thus surrounds himself with better people and thus is able to run a better campaign. So although it seems interesting in the present, ultimately it is totally inconsequential, this is a dog and pony show McCain, will never sit behind the desk in the Oval Office.

Romney adds a net nothing to the ticket; his negatives at least approximate the positives.

McCain NEEDS Alaska Gov Sarah Palin (if he wants to win in November) — whose positives are too numerous to mention here (with no negatives).

– and don’t cite Palin’s lack of experience, since she’s got 10 times that of Obama!!!

Sad that so many commenters are dwelling on stupid or false reasons to like or not like a McCain-Romney ticket.

ATTENTION COLLEGE-AGE PEOPLE: OBAMA is a dangerous liberal-fascist and/or empty suit. Most people older than you know this; it's time to grow up and realize that wisdom does come with age.

Mitt Romney would be the best, overall VP McCain could chose. He is smart, likable, knows his stuff, and has a lovely wife (which is an excellent test of someone's character). He will also assure an electoral majority via two or more states in the Midwest.

PLEASE, the Presidency, and by extension, Vice-Presidency, is serious stuff. Show some smarts and see Obama for what he is (or isn't).

And hope for a McCain-Romney ticket!
