YouTomb: YouTube’s Mass Online Grave
May 20, 2008 Posted in News-ish
Ever wonder what happens to all the videos taken down from YouTube for copyright infringement, or any other reason? Just check out YouTomb.
According to TechCrunch.com, students from MIT’s Free Culture group created the Site to document all the videos removed from YouTube. Currently, they’ve logged 177,000 videos, with more than 4,000 reportedly removed for copyright violations.
You can’t watch the videos on the Site, but they do include vital information, like who posted, when it was taken down and screen-shots. So, enjoy searching the catacombs of viral video–until they decide to shut that down, too.
