According to CNN.com, Sen. Edward (Ted) Kennedy was rushed to a hospital early today after suffering from “symptoms of a stroke.” The senator originally arrived at an emergency room in Cape Cod, at 9 a.m. this morning, and was transfered to Massachusetts General Hospital soon after.
From the article:
The source said the 76-year-old senator had “symptoms of a stroke” at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port.
Kennedy had surgery in October to clear his carotid artery in hopes of preventing a stroke. Colleagues said he had recovered quickly and was working energetically recently.
He suffers chronic back pain from injuries suffered in a plane crash in 1964.
Ted Kennedy has served Massachusetts in the Senate for over 40 years, one of only six senators in history to serve for that length of time. He is known for his support of social issues and “liberal” politics, and is the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy, and Sen. Robert Kennedy, who were both assassinated. Here’s to hoping his “carotid artery” doesn’t assassinate him, too.
