ABC Outs Blogger/Prostitute “Debauchette”; Mom Finds Out Daughter’s Secret Life

debauchette.jpg I’m convinced that prostitutes and bloggers make up half the world’s population.

With sex scandal upon sex scandal being covered by every facet of the media, it’s no surprise to see even the most private of prostitutes being outed…wait, did I say “private”? I meant “attention-seeking.”

I’m not trying to be unfair, but when you’re a blogger/prostitute like Debauchette, our Exhibit A, your life revolves around what people think of you and your every opinion, raw and uncut. Eventually, that insatiable need to be heard gets you in trouble — or on ABC News with Diana Sawyer. Or both.

It’s hard to empathize with the outing of Debauchette — her mom figured out she was a professional whore from watching the interview, taking notice of her daughter’s quirks and mannerisms — especially when nobody forced her into chatting up her “other” life on television. Call it being a call girl; I call it ego-feeding.

Still, Debauchette comes off extremely smart, albeit too smart for her own good, putting her wordy eloquence and personal gain before simple judgment. Too much dick does that to a girl.

    hadley?

    you’re kind of a bitch aren’t you?

i love how you just make fun of debauchette without ever going to her blog and reading back to find out that she in fact agonized for quite some time before choosing to speak to the media.

furthermore, i believe that she did this against her own good judgement because she felt (correctly) that otherwise none of the ‘happy hookers’ would speak up.

i suspect her own hatred of unbiased reporting got her into trouble but i don’t know. i don’t know because i haven’t asked… sound familiar?

i’m hoping you call yourself a gossip columnist because reporter you are not.

[for the record debauchette has no idea who i am or that i choose to defend her, these words are MINE]

To badinfluencegirl: while I understand your points to some degree, it’s a sad world we live in when pop culture mavens like yourself (and myself, at times) get angry enough about a person’s opinion on a “blogger/prostitute” to feel the need to justify them through and through.

I’ve read her blog in the past (only a few times, admittingly) and read her post about the situation. Never forget that it goes back to business as usual by the end, ‘the perfect shot’ as she put it. It’s just funny to me to see anybody get their feathers ruffled up over some random blogger…why??

Look at me: I’m talking about this too much myself. The wrong people are famous for the wrong reasons, that’s what I think of this. Sigh…

editor: nope i am badinfluencegirl… if you care to you can read my thoughts at badinfluencegirl.com

josh: what offends me more is that crap like this is presented as journalism. if you’re going to call yourself a reporter for a magazine you should do some research rather than simply jumping on the opinion of the day. this piece is so smug and superior it should turn the stomach of anyone who likes their reporting minus a heaping side order of bias and preconceived opinions….

i don’t forget that she returns to business as usual but having been attacked (on my other blog) i learned the hard way that the best thing to do is not fight back… that doesn’t make it fun.

finally i’m not caring that much about this except that a blogger i like is taking it on the chin for the other sex workers out there… and mostly i really hope her blog doesn’t disappear…

Who called this journalism? This is a short opinion piece. I’m sick of people who think that everything in print is “journalism.” Not everyone who jots down their opinion is a “reporter.” Please educate yourself about the media if you’re going to comment on it.
