So you’ve seen Almost Famous and now you want to be a famous rock writer. You consider yourself a music aficionado with impeccable taste, one that people should listen to.
Well get in line, or get involved: entries are now being accepted for Rolling Stone’s 33rd Annual College Journalism Competition.
The categories are as follows: Entertainment Reporting (reporting on popular music, film or television, including artist profiles and interviews), Feature Writing (stylishly written narratives and profiles that illuminate issues and trends), and Essays and Criticism (commentary, including expressions of opinion and humor, on any subject).
The editors of Rolling Stone judge the entries. A $2,500 prize is awarded in each category. Entries must have been published in a college student newspaper or magazine between June 1, 2007 and May 30, 2008. The entrant must have been enrolled as a full- or part-time student at the time that his or her entry was published.
Entries must be received by June 15, 2008. Winners will be announced in a fall issue.
