Harvard Ranked As Students’ 1st Choice for College

As the 2008 admissions season— which has seen the largest college applicant pool ever—comes to a close, one immutable fact was confirmed by a recent Princeton Review survey: students still want to go to Harvard. A lot.

For the first time ever, Harvard captured the top spot in The Princeton Review’s “College Hopes & Worries Survey” as the “dream college” undergraduate applicants would most like to attend if cost and acceptance were of no concern. For the past four years, that distinction had been held by New York University. [The Crimson]

Blog Allows Students to Share Frustration, Joys

What secrets would you confess to the Duke public if no one could find out it was you?

A new blog started March 19 by junior Deepika Ravi, and supported by organizations across campus, invites students to speak about their fears, secrets and insecurities on its Web site-and promises total anonymity to encourage open confession. [Duke Chronicle]

Dropkick Murphy’s Playing Tufts Spring Fling

Via a tipster’s helpful comments, we were alerted that monsters of Celt-rock the Dropkick Murphies are also playing Spring Fling, bringing back the time-honored tradition of having a healthy mix of rock and rap on the President’s Lawn. (Not to be confused with rap-rock… that’s never healthy, kids.) [College OTR]

U. Penn Students Who Planned Obama Hoax

April Fools’ Day came early, thanks to a campus-wide prank planned by three University of Pennsylvania students.

But contrary to the information contained in eggs and flyers Wharton freshmen Nick Greif and Marko Horvat and College freshman Logan Steinhardt scattered around campus, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama will not speak at Irvine Auditorium Tuesday night.

The three students placed plastic eggs, each containing two professionally printed tickets to the supposed speech, on Locust Walk and in the Quadrangle late Sunday night. [uWire]
