Boondock Saints Sequel in the Works

Sony Picture Studios has decided to go forward with a sequel to Boondock Saints, one of the most maligned and misunderstood movies of the past decade.
With a backstory that rivals most Hollywood scripts, writer/director Troy Duffy went through all seven layers of hell to get his film out, just to see the end product released in a truncated and odd state. Critics lashed out at Boondock Saints‘ lack of proper cohesion, while fans trumpeted Willem Dafoe’s turn as a homosexual FBI agent and Duffy’s madcap, albeit overly stylized, approach.
While the movie didn’t cash in at the box office, stalling around $30,000, it has steadily found a cult audience that enjoys and emphasizes with the movie and its director alike.
If industry blowhards like Michael Bay get one-thousand chances at delivering the goods, doesn’t Duffy deserve at least one more?
The sequel, titled The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day, will start shooting this summer.

The reason that the movie didn't do well at the box office had to the with the fact it was never fully released. If what I remember is correct, the movie was schedule to come out around the same time the Columbine attacks occurred and studio bigwigs felt that a movie about vigilantes going on a killing spree may have been in bad taste.
Regardless, two or three years ago, the movie did enjoy a very limited and quiet "nationwide" release for a day or so.
