End of Term Party Becomes Village Square Orgy
A school was forced to help girls get emergency contraception after an end of term party saw under-age pupils having unprotected sex in a village square.

The event is said to have involved “a disturbingly high number of girls” having sex while they were too drunk to know what they were doing, and also left one boy hospitalised.

Witnesses described how “all hell let loose” at the party in a picturesque Lancashire village, and said that two youths tried to break into an ambulance that was called for the collapsed boy. [Telegraph]

Class of 2012 to be Duke’s Most Selective

Anxious students will open their mailboxes this week to find large envelopes-invitations to Duke’s Class of 2012.

A total of 3,814 acceptance letters were mailed out earlier this week to the 20,337 high school seniors that applied to Duke in the Fall, resulting in a record-low regular decision acceptance rate of 18.8 percent. Of the applicants, 2,933 were accepted to the Trinity College of Arts and Sciences and 881 were admitted to the Pratt School of Engineering. [Duke Chronicle]

Gridiron Bash Postponed Until Further Notice

The Gridiron Bash, a football pep rally that would feature a live performance by Fergie in Beaver Stadium, has been postponed by the event’s promoters until further notice.

According to press release at live.psu.edu, the decision was made “due to a recent NCAA ruling regarding the participation of student-athletes.” [Collegian]

Mayweather’s Brass Knuckles KO ‘The Big Show’

floyd and the big show

Last night was Wrestlemania XXIV and you could feel the electricity in the air – or maybe it was just the sound of Floyd Mayweather hitting the mat.

Everyone’s talking about the Big Show vs. Floyd “Money” Mayweather that featured the Big Show whipping the ass of every one of Mayweather’s handlers. As for Floyd “Money” Mayweather, he got thrown around, stepped on, and had to be dragged back to the ring by the Big Show, before felling him a brass-knuckle assisted right hook.

Mayweather wasn’t the only celebrity at the show: Kim Kardashian made an appearance as hostess and interviewed Mr. Kennedy before the ‘Money in the Bank’ ladder match.

Speaking of the ‘Money in the Bank’ match, I’ve seen a match with so many “holy sh*t” moments as this one. Here are a few of the highlights of that one; John Morrison doing a back flip off the top rope carrying a ladder, and Shelton Benjimen falling into and bending a propped ladder outside. Even the wrestlers jaws dropped at that one. (more…)

“Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds” is a Great Way to Waste a Sunday

hot_shots_golf.jpgThe Hot Shots Golf franchise keeps it real – real casual and goofy, that is. Often imitated and never duplicated (unless you consider Mario Golf an offshoot), the series’ thrives on its easy to learn, hard to master learning curve…and its endearingly annoying cast of characters.

I can stomach almost any twee, campy character in a videogame, but I don’t quite understand game developer Clap Handz’s fascination with these weirdo stereotypes. Maybe that’s part of the fun – dozens of non-golfing types acting extremely ungolfish (?) – but it can get grating at times.

With that minor gripe out of the way, the game itself is gold, as expected from the charming series.

This installment of Hot Shots Golf hasn’t underwent any major changes, which is a relief for longtime fans of the series. The most notable change in gameplay is the revamped shooting mechanics, which have more to do with the physics of your character than just lining up your shot with an on-screen grid. Both shooting options are used in the game, but the Advanced Shot system makes for a more strategic game without getting caught up in sim-like depth. It’s still an arcade-sports game at heart, sharing more in common with Golden Tee than Tiger Woods PGA Tour. (more…)

Inside Bus

With gas prices around $3-per-gallon, traveling for hours on a bus with an overweight ex-male-stripper as your seat-mate seems more like a quality way to travel. BoltBus knows this.

So, as Consumerist.com reports, BoltBus will begin competing with Greyhound and the various “Chinatown buses” that run this route by offering passengers $1-fares, in-bus WiFi, electrical outlets for laptops and DVD players, “panoramic views [and] the normal coach accouterments,” as their Website advertises. And they make the trek eight times a day.

Can taking the bus really be that great, you ask? No, not really. (more…)

Relationship Over? Avoid Facebook Shame

We live in a Facebook age where our every move is showcased for the world to see. Even personal matters, like ending a relationship, are no longer private because of the Newsfeed.

Valleywag tells the story of a distraught reader whose status change went virtual via his Newsfeed. To avoid having this happen to you learn how to correctly manage your Facebook privacy settings before the break up goes down – you’ll thank us (and Valleywag more specifically!) later.
