Smirnoff Announces Collaboration with Popular Rap Stars
February 21, 2008 Posted in Entertainment

Smirnoff Vodka has just announced a new advertising campaign called The Smirnoff Signature Series. The campaign will team up legendary rap artists with acclaimed DJs to cover classic rap songs. The collabos involved are Common teaming up with Just Blaze, Q-Tip with Cool & Dre, and KRS-One with DJ Premier. Talk about hip-hop’s elite!
Each artist and producer will cover songs that are based on popular Smirnoff Mixed Drinks. Common and Just Blaze’s collaboration will be based on “The Southside,” a drink made with Green Apple Vodka and Cranberry juice. “Blueberry Abstract” is the inspiration for Q-Tip and Cool & Dre; KRS-One and DJ Premier’s partnership will focus on “The Cypha.” The songs are Common’s “The Light,” A Tribe Called Quest’s “Midnight,” and “Criminal Minded” by Boogie Down Productions.
The Smirnoff Signature Mix Series will be launched in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. Radio, video, and digital promotional campaigns will go down in every city, as well as events at local clubs.
If your college is within the vicinity of any of these cities, I would highly recommend checking this event out. KRS and Premo alone make it worth your time.
However, if you don’t live in these cities don’t worry, Smirnoff hasn’t forgotten you: All three songs with their music videos and behind the scenes footage will be available at SmirnoffSignatureMixSeries.com.
