Slashfilm recently featured a video that compared Michel Gondry’s new film Be Kind Rewind to The Amanda Show, which aired on Nickelodeon eight years ago. While the concepts are indeed similar, it’s commonplace for these kind of coincidences to happen in entertainment…right?

The ideas are fundamentally different.
also, nobody gives a Sh*t
The lines are directly from the skit show. “This is much better.” And the situations are the same too.
Instead of being an original movie, it’s a stolen and lame idea.
Why the f*** would I want to watch an indie movie based on a stolen kids skit show idea???
Laaaame. Passing this dumb movie.
FD has made something of a careless post here. He completely misses the point, which is clear even in the trailer. Andrew is right; these are fundamentally different ideas at work. That some of the details overlap is merely coincidental. And this is hardly an indie movie: major star + major director + major studio = major movie.
Wow, that Mos Def movie looks pretty good. Thanks for the head’s up!
Amanda was annoying. Mos Def is not annoying. Mos Def better… MUCH BETTER.
