NCAA Basketball Picks Of The Day – Feb. 11, 2008

sports betting

On Sunday, Bone took a 1-0 lead over DA Zeus when Wake Forest beat University of Virginia 80-64.

As Bone predicted, Lawrence Joel Coliseum was rocking behind James Johnson’s 21 point performance. DA Zeus said the key to the game would be Hasheem Thabeet and what a game he had, scoring a career-high 24 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked six shots in leading No. 19 UConn to a spread busting 80-68 win on Saturday.

Today we add two new cappers to the mix, Gebsta and Fenboy – lets see how they do.

Check out today’s picks after the jump!

Bone (1-0) from Lynchburg College

The Pick: Kansas Jayhawks -4.5 vs. Texas Longhorns

This is a HUGE game for both squads and Texas being the home team does scare me a little. But have no fear Brandon Rush is here. The 6’6 Guard from the Jayhawks is coming off less than great performance vs. a good Baylor team. He had only 9 points and was 0-4 from 3 pt. range. I’m looking for him to put up some great numbers tonight and I won’t be surprised if he hits 5 or 6 trey balls.

Did I mention this is a MONSTER revenge game for the Jayhawks? Last meeting between these 2 teams was in ’06 and the Jayhawks got dismantled 80-55 in which they were out rebounded 36-19. This year is a much different story as the Jayhawks come into the Frank Erwin Center the #4 team in the nation, sporting a 23-1 record; at the end of the night, add another Dubya to that stellar record.

Player to watch: Brandon Rush (Facebook message or poke) – ‘Nuff said.

Fenboy (0-0) from Marist College

The Pick: Portland – 5 over Pepperdine University

The Pilots of Portland are coming off an impressive 11 point victory over Loyola Marymount in which they shot 52% from behind the 3 point arc. I expect to see the same type of shooting game against a weak Pepperdine defense.

Player to Watch: Freshman guard Jared Stohl (Facebook message or poke) who got his second start of the season against LMU and dropped 14, including 4-7 from 3 point range. Stohl has connected on at least one triple in each of the Pilots 22 games this season.

Gebsta (0-0) from Seton Hall University

The Pick: St. Mary’s -5.5 over Santa Clara

Seton Hall played at St. Mary’s earlier in the season and got smoked by 15 points. Since Seton Hall is clearly the best team in the Big East (and possibly the nation) it leads me to believe St. Mary’s will romp the 12-10 Santa Clara team. If you think I’m insane just look at the last time these schools met on January 12th when St. Mary’s handed Santa Clara a 76-45 a** whooping.

This time St. Mary’s will be playing on Santa Clara’s turf but we can expect a similar outcome with St. Mary’s beating Santa Clara 69-61.

Player to Watch: The game hinges on Santa Clara’s 6-11 big man John Bryant (Facebook message or poke). If St. Mary’s Omar Samhan (Facebook message or poke) can box him out and pick up some key rebounds the game will swing in favor of St. Mary’s.

DA Zeus (0-1) from Fairfield University

The Pick: Utah State +6.5 over Nevada

The Utah State Aggies come into the game with a 3 game winning streak and having beat Nevada the last three times they have met. The Aggies also sit on top of the Western Athletic Conference with a record of 8-1. Both teams can score, so expect this to be a very competitive game down to the end. Still, I just feel 6.5 points is way too many points to lay to a strong Utah St. team in a conference battle for the top.

Overall Capper Breakdown:
Bone (1-0)
Fenboy (0-0)
Gebsta(0-0)
DA Zeus (0-1)

  • chad says:

My projection, Bone is the strongest of the bunch and will be 5-2 after a week. The last two days he’s been on point. Portland won’t cover, Gebsta’s logic is retarded and I’d have to agree with DA Zeus on the Utah State game.

  • Editor says:

    Dear Chad,

You are a human boner. You might think my logic is retarded but I’m going 10-0 to start…. fact!

Fenboy sucks at betting so put money down on the other team for all his bets and you will be a millionaire by years end.

  • Fenboy says:

Chad, any reason behind your statement that Portland will not cover? Also any reason you are sucking off Bone after only 1 game into this challenge?

Editor, if you go 10-0 to start, i will hang up my capping shoes and move on to tiddly winks
