It's not nearly as awful as you think it is — you're just not treating it as a COMEDY! It's freaking hilarious!!!

I can't tell which is better — the "challengers" and "gladiators" trying to trash talk each other, or Hogan and Ali trying to pump up the hype and pretend to be media announcers.

Treat the whole thing as an elaborate practical joke, and it's a lot of fun to watch!
