George Clooney, U.N. Messenger of Peace?

clooney_jumps_water

WTF is wrong with the world?!

Another actor trying to be a politician/activist? Sorry, me thinks we have enough of those. Between Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and all the old West Wing actors, there is enough crazy to go around – don’t do this George.

You are the ultimate guy’s guy, and the future will probably put you in the same category as Jack Nicholson, but if you do this – there is no turning back. You were great in Oceans 11-13, amazing in Syriana, but hands down the worst Batman imaginable. That’s a sign dude. If you do this, you move from epic guy movie actor to political anti-war douche.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a huge proponent of the war but you are an actor with no real tie to military strategy. My brother and 3 of my cousins are in Tikrit for past 2 years, and that blows – but they made a commitment. If you start trolliping the globe “speaking out,” you will go the way of Tim Robbins. That, my dear man, is the darkest loneliest douchiest path an actor can go. He went from Bull Durham, arguably one of the greatest baseball movies to the Shawshank Redemption. Not that Shawshank was bad (if you are into that), but getting tied up by Susan Sarandon kicks a**. Look at him now George, he is a hippie liberal douche – the highest level of douchbaggery.

With Cheadle and Brad Pitt, Clooney has raised money for refugees through the “Not On Our Watch” charity and helped draw attention to the crisis in Darfur in western Sudan. It is because of that work, that the U.N. is reaching out to George now – so that he can “make the world aware of crucial international political and social issues.” Yaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnn…got news for you dude, we know. We TOTALLY got the memo and don’t need a special messenger.

Look George…seriously…you seem determined to do this, so fine. But you need to be careful, because the moment you start “Rah, Rah – War Sucks! Down with America!” you will be back doing the Facts of Life reunion talk-show circuit. You have come too far for that George, you are better than that. If you are sure you want your political 15 seconds – you better be careful…don’t make me sell my Clooney collection.

Hey internet commentary guy, you should seriously shut up. If Clooney can use his celebrity status to bring attention to problems in the world and help people I think he should. It makes him MORE cool, not less. And get your head out of your ass, he’s anti-war against the morons who sent the troops over there not the troops. And just for your information people DIDN’T know about Darfur until celebrities like Clooney got the media off their Britney-obsessed stupid asses. If your flippant attitude towards suffering in this world is supposed to be cool then the human race is truly fucked. You suck, get a life.

    Dear some dude,

Nice name and suck my balls. If he wants to start a club to send Darfur money – GREAT, but if he think that him being rich gives him some special super-power, than he is a douche like the rest of the hollywood dumbasses who think they are now political figures. Help the world? Hells yes he should. Should he now try touting his little title around to sway politics – Hells no. He is an ACTOR, not an educated political analyst no matter what characters he played.

Some guy – Darfur has been in political strife for almost 11 years. No matter how many times Angelina, Brad and George go there – it is STILL going on – would you at least agree that someone OTHER than an actor needs to get involved to change that?

oh man, he likes peace?! He must be a big faggot! oh my god bro, holy shit what a dbag! You’re so sick chad p. So sick bro.

You made zero points in your entire article, except that Clooney is a dbag because an international institution named him a messenger for peace. I hope you are not considering being a journalist.

He has yet to comment on the appointment so how is he flaunting his title. Also, the U.N. saves this award for celebrities to use their status to draw attention to situations.
This is from people magazine -
“Clooney, 46, joins Michael Douglas and musician Yo-Yo Ma as previous celebrity U.N. honorees. Clooney and friend Don Cheadle were given the Peace Summit Award by a group of Nobel Laureates Dec. 13 for their work for Darfur.”

I’m surprised you didn’t find this when you were doing your research…

OMG Rory! I had no idea they solved the problem of world peace?! We need to ban all the actors together and move onto famine and disease!

    Good work dude!

    Chad-

The crisis in Darfur is about 3 years old, not 11.
You’re confusing Southern Sudan with Darfur, two COMPLETE different problems.

I LINKED to the article…good work on figuring out how to copy and paste…cheers! Next time, try thinking for yourself with some kind of original comment. and for the record, the sudanese, according to every source are helping maintain strife in darfur.

Just because you link too something doesn’t mean you can rip entire sentences..

What was your original point again?

George Clooney should turn down an honoree position that is reserved for celebrities because he is a celebrity, and we shouldn’t worry about Darfur because their own thrid world government that is near shambles will take care of it. Good call man.

Upon second read of your article, not only do you make zero points, but i’m not sure if you have an actual opinion.

I look forward to your response with big CAPS lock and most likely some reference about your balls.

ok – your last sentence made me laugh – 1 pt Rory, Chad 0

but my actual point was that I like George Clooney, and I like peace – but is he actually qualified to be a messenger of peace b/c he is an actor with a club of rich donors? A lot of actors talk mad-shit, but do nothing to actually help.

    oh yea…MY BALLS

Sorry to jump on the bandwagon, but Chad you come off as an ignorant narrow-minded dumbass. I dont understand why your showing disdain, jealousy or whatever it is towards someone whose actually trying to make some use out of there celebrity status, regardless what entitlement he’s given by the U.N. . . Funny picture, retarded article.

Chad, don’t listen to those other boneheads. You’re right…Clooney has just entered the political arena…all bets are off. We have every right to examine his motives in a political context. His is an avowed Liberal. His comments/actions should now be viewed in a partisan way. Meaning that, not only does he *not* speak for all Americans, and has an agenda that is not in the best interests of all Americans…only those of the same platform he espouses.

Bottom line, he is no longer an actor but instead a highly paid political emissary hack.

If ass-hats like the entire GOP Neocon A.M. radio-show-host stooge lineup can have opinions*, so can liberal actors.

But yes, Tim Robbins movies do all suck now.

*WTF are their credentials to have opinon, the arrogant fucks?

Chad the right wing are the only ones that say actors shouldn’t do these sorts of things… mostly cause actors are left-leaning usually…cause they act…and they can influence the public. Politicians don’t like that.

I won’t call Chad a dbag.. but just look at what you’re actually bitching about…

Tell us what you're thinking...
