Cold winter days got you down?

Many college guys experience withdrawal (no pun intended) during winter break, since all the attractive, young snow bunnies are nowhere to be found. Even those who have no luck getting lucky during the school year can at least take solace in all the eye-candy on campus. Instead of quenching this thirst alone in front of your computer (or, even worse, at your old high school) go abroad.

Something happens to girls when they cross the border.

Good girls become bad; bad girls become worse; and everyone is making sure that they go home with a story. The question about traveling abroad is not if you’re going to get action but, rather, who it’s going to be with. You control your destiny, but follow these pointers.

Know How to Dance/converse

Dancing is the universal language of love, and you want to be sure that everyone in the bar knows that you can speak well, loudly and often.

The great thing about being able to dance is that it opens up lines of conversation to every single girl on the trip – immediately. Going to a club during one of the first nights of the trip is inevitable, and the local girls would rather warm up to you than some macho local boy. Put your ego aside, and get on the dance floor, for this source of revenue is not going to last long.

Before you know it, these girls will become more comfortable with their surroundings, and branch off into the arms of the foreign boys. Lucky for you, this can work both ways.

Be American to the Foreigners

Foreign girls love American boys, so talk it up as much as possible. Of course you ride your horse to baseball practice while listening to rap music. It’s America; everyone does! If it’s possible to convince these gullible European girls that you are a rugged cowboy who hangs out with Kanye, you’ve just combined their two American fantasies into one incredible combo pack.

Make sure to try and speak their language, but not too well. If they sense that you are assimilating into their culture too fast, they will drop you like a piping-hot plate of American pie.

Be Foreign to the Americans

For whatever reason, all of the students from other American schools studying in your area are way better than you at speaking the host language. They also seem to know much more about the culture, the people, the climate and everything else there is to know about living in this nation. Your cute American act will not work on them, and you run the risk of becoming the drunk guy who only studied abroad because the drinking age is lower. However true that may be, you do not want to run the risk of cutting of a healthy supply of American girls.

When around them, makes sure to speak frequently of how in love you are with different cultures, how this is a soul-searching trip, and how you’re the type of guy who can never be tied down because you always want to travel and live. The girls will think you re the second coming of Magellan and won’t be able to resist your charm.

A study-abroad summer trip is a chance to reinvent yourself for a couple of months and show off your cultural side. The key is to aim high: all of the rules change once you deplane, and everyone is fair game. Most girls will be so impressed with your foreign culture skills and your dance moves that they will completely forget that they would never talk to you back in the states.

If by chance you had no luck during your time abroad, you may want to cash in that return ticket. Everyone returns with a story, and you don’t want yours to be how you missed out on a sure thing.
