Hulkster’s Getting Divorced

A reporter for the St. Petersburg Times blind-sided Hulk Hogan on Friday with news that his wife Linda had filed papers for divorce.

Hogan told the reporter he “knocked the bottom out of me” and had to hang up the phone for a little bit to figure out what was going on. The Hulkster would later call back and thank the reporter for the “great information” but would decline to make any further comments due to the personal nature of the issue.

Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, married his wife Linda in 1983, just prior to him winning his World Wrestling Federation Championship from the Iron Sheik in Madison Square Garden, which is the subject of a grudge the Sheik still carries to this day.

Hulk and Linda have two children, Nick and Brooke; the family stars together on the VH1 reality series Hogan Knows Best. The last season of the show devoted several episodes to the couple’s marital problems. However, followers of the show and Hulk himself were left with the impression that the issues were solved.

This is just the latest in what appears to be a rather dismal year for the wrestling legend. Hogan also has to deal with his Nick having his license revoked for reckless driving and critically injuring a passenger. He also got into a falling out with Vince McMahon after supposedly leaking the list of nominees for the WWE Hall of Fame on The Bubba Love Sponge Show. This led to the cancellation of a match between him and Jerry “The King” Lawler that would have taken place on April 12 in Memphis.
