The latest news based on nothing but pure speculation comes from Capital, a German financial magazine.
For the German-impaired it goes something like this: upon hearing that Apple’s Jack-of-all-trades Steve Jobs and Volkswagen Chairman Martin Winterhorn had a tech rendevous in California earlier this week Capital pondered for a moment. After pondering for exactly one moment they thought, “Hey – what do cars and iPods have in common? Cars…iPods…carPods…podCars…wait! iCars!“
Whether this rumor has any truth behind it – or if the iCar’s steering wheel will be a click-wheel – has yet to be confirmed.
Apple and VW have worked together in the past, integrating Apple’s “i” with VW’s more expensive models. With speculation running rampant my prediction is that iPhone, iPod and Apple TV peripherals will start to crop up in VW’s next batch of BMWs. Then again, the rumor about VW planning to release an “unconventional sub-compact” for under $10k could be the iCar. But since when are VW and Apple frugal companies with budget products?
The most important part of this tech-rumor is that it was posted over a month ago by some random, stagnant-after-one-post blog. A poor fellow at “I’ve Got the Scoop” leaked this exact story to the internet over a month ago, BUT NOBODY LISTENED. He was Super Cereal and nobody listened!
