Wanna Graduate College in One Year?

USAToday reports that University of Michigan student, Nicole Matisse, will graduate college this summer. Oooooh, no big deal, right? So are thousands upon thousands of other college students, right?

Right. But, 19-year-old Nicole Matisse has only been there for one year. ONE year, people!

The article states, “As a student at Lahser High School, Matisse had exhausted the curriculum by her junior year. Between the exams she passed on eight advanced placement courses and the eight classes she took at Oakland Community College, she had amassed enough credits to enter the university last fall as a junior.”

This girl is one determined little cookie. Once she got to the university, she took 27 credits in one semester, and said she was so “bored” that she could have easily taken on more credits, because she “craved” them.

She must really know how to party. NOT.

Good for her, but in my opinion, this all sounds pretty lame to me. What’s the rush?? I mean, college is supposed to be the time you let loose, skip class, stay out late, and get crazy! She’s peacin’ out before she even turns 21! This girl is gonna miss out on her rite of passage: the chance to legally step through the doors of her favorite bar (if she even has one). She may be book smart and be successfully carrying out her “career goals,” but….what an idiot!

I would NEVER voluntarily shave down my four years of college to two tiny, little, itty-bitty semesters, and if I had it my way – meaning, if my parents would have paid for it – I would have stretched out my college experience for at least another year before venturing out into the real world.

After Nicole tears the roof off of graduation, she’s off to law school at Wayne State University in Detroit, where she will undoubtedly finish in three weeks, become a lawyer in two, and one year from now, she will realize how much wicked partying and amazing times she missed out on, only to return back to college and do it all over again, the right way.

There is still hope, Nicole. There is still hope.
