Arguably the most memorable parts of a road trip with you friends don’t actually take place at the destination. Sure, crushing beer cans off your face or doing other frat party-esque things are fun but it’s the crazy antics that go down in the car while in route that will be talked about at your 10 year reunion.

Example: The time you scared the living shit out of your friend while he was sleeping with a successful “Break & Scream” at mile marker 103 on the highway.

What is the “Break & Scream?”

You will be in a car with a few friends driving down the highway and the sweet vibration of the highway flying by will rock one of your buddies to sleep. Sleeping on a road trip is unacceptable so, as the driver, you must remedy the situation. Here’s how…

First: ID the sleeping friend.

Second:
Signal to your coherent friends that the “Break and Scream” will be going down.

Third:
Count down with your fingers 3-2-1 and slam the breaks.

Fourth:
At the same time, at the exact moment you hit the breaks, everyone in the car must scream bloody murder as if you are going face first into an on coming 18 wheeler.

Result: The combo of the slamming break, death screams and an abrupt wake up should give your friend a near heart attack and a startled face that will have you and your friends laughing from Virginia to Georgia.

Check out the video below for a classic example of a perfectly executed “Break & Scream.”
