Style Watch: Jorts
July 7, 2007 Posted in News-ish
Beverly Hills is an area of high fashion, akin to Milan, Paris, 5th Avenue, and Indianapolis, and that alone qualifies me to be the style editor here at COED Magazine Online. Being a New Yorker by birth, there are clear fashion differences between myself and my neighbors here, mostly along the lines of color.
I blame all the bright colors here in the West Coast on weather and Baywatch, and I feel as if my once outrageous wardrobe is bland in comparison to most out here. However, one particular trend here that was initially alarming was that of Jorts. I never thought I would see the day where would return to popularity, but it has come, and I must say that I’m buying into it.
Don’t get me wrong, these aren’t the jean shorts of 1997, or 1987 for that matter. They are an offshoot of the rapidly growing manpri market and are longer and skinnier in nature. If you are wearing jean shorts that have a holster for a hammer, or are wide enough to fit Shaq‘s dick, I would recommend a quick return for store credit. Most of the one’s that I have seen have been home made, cutting an old pair of jeans that have shrunk a few inches below the knee to obtain a huckleberry finn look. However, if cutting was never your subject in first grade, you can pick some precut jorts up at H & M or most asian boutiques as they are all the rage in Japan.
